Internationally known photographic
artist Cindy May lives with her son Cody and her cat Chappy on a
small gulf island in British Columbia, Canada. Cindy has
travelled extensively and is established in the fields of
commercial, fashion, architecture, advertising and conceptual
photography. Her breathtaking journalistic documentary style black and white collections exemplify her passion for travel and discovery of the world around her. Her deep appreciation and compassion for earth's inhabitants is reflected in the eyes of her often young subjects. Cindy is completing publication of her first book. The openness, vulnerability and power that can be seen in her varied published and exhibited collections can also be seen in Cindy's private portraitures. In her signature unassuming relaxed style, Cindy's deep sensitivity and ease with people shows and shines through in frame after frame of anything she shoots. In the industry of photography and collectable art, Cindy is considered a fine arts photographer. She works with her camera in a traditional way and uses film and chemistry and a darkroom. However, much of Cindy's commercial image library is made up of vibrant saturated colour, images from exotic and surreal situations while travelling. This produces a startling contrast with her hauntingly beautiful black and white images, the look Cindy is known for. Cindy is a solo parent, a homeschooling and Rudulf Steiner advocate. Much of Cindy's travel collections were shot randomly on her trips with her young son Cody, their first trip being deep into Southeast Asia for eight months when Cody was seven years old. The rest is history. She is also involved in many foundations and environmental action groups and is passionate about the care of earth and the love and protection of earth's children. |
